Projects
In 2003, Aristo Music in cooperation with the Catholic University of Leuven and supported by IWT Flanders, developed a preparatory study to develop new strategies for the distribution of digital music.
In 2004, the "context-oriented offer of digital music based on subjective information" commenced. On the basis of the subjective characteristics of music - such as atmospheres, loudness, danceability, etc. - a suitable playlist can be automatically generated for a specific situation (context). This study was carried out in cooperation with the Hypermedia & Databases departments led by prof. dr. Erik Duval B Sc of Leuven University.
In 2006, a project was launched that measured the influence of various musical parameters (such as genres, atmospheres, rhythms, instruments, voices, etc.) on the behaviour of people in certain situations. The objective was to examine which musical parameters need to be present to a certain extent in the choice of music to realise a specific effect. This study was carried out in cooperation with the Experimental Psychology department led by prof. dr. Géry d'Ydewalle of Leuven University.
In 2007, a project started to strongly automate the valuation of musical parameters of certain songs. This project was carried out in cooperation with the Hypermedia & Databases department led by prof. dr. Erik Duval B Sc of Leuven University and The Digital Speech & Signal Processing (ELIS) research group led by prof. dr. Jean-Pierre Martens B Sc of the University of Ghent.
